Kjersti Sangrey, Acupuncturist

Acupuncture

Kjersti Sangrey (she/they) is delighted to join the Zen Attitude team in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood, a community that feels like home after growing up in Ballard and spending much of her young adult life on Capitol Hill.

For 14 years, Kjersti owned and operated New Life Rhythm in Fremont, providing acupuncture and a range of integrative healing services. After deciding to step away from business ownership and devote more of her energy to patient care, she reconnected with her friend Phi-Lan Nguyen, owner of Zen Attitude, whom she met at Bastyr University and alongside whom she studied in China. Kjersti is excited to bring her experience and unique perspective to Zen Attitude, with a renewed focus on creating meaningful, individualized care for her patients.

Kjersti’s approach to acupuncture and integrative care is rooted in the interconnectedness of body, mind, spirit, and nature. Raised in a Norwegian household and influenced by travel and diverse cultural traditions, she developed an early appreciation for different approaches to health and healing.

Her own experience with chronic fatigue and pain, as well as ovarian cyst ruptures, led her to acupuncture and tuning fork therapy at age 17. After experiencing significant benefits from these approaches, she was inspired by a model of care that considered the whole person rather than focusing solely on individual symptoms. This experience ultimately shaped her decision to become an acupuncturist.

Kjersti earned her Master of Science in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Bastyr University in 2010. Her clinical training included Bastyr Center for Natural Health, Harborview Medical Center, Providence Mount St. Vincent, and an externship at hospitals in Shanghai, China.

Kjersti continues to deepen her study of diverse healing traditions, including shamanic and traditional cultural practices. Through this work, she has developed a deeper understanding of healing as something that extends beyond the individual to include the spirit, community, ancestors, and the land. She is deeply grateful for the many teachers who have shared their knowledge and wisdom with her along the way, with Char Sundust and Betsy Bergstrom being particularly prominent influences in her clinical practice. She has also felt a strong connection to her ancestral heritage and has been especially drawn to exploring the traditional healing practices of Nordic and Scandinavian cultures.

Kjersti works with a variety of conditions and has a particular interest in supporting patients with pain and psychoemotional wellbeing. Her treatments may include acupuncture, cupping, moxibustion, gua sha, tuning forks, and personalized lifestyle guidance.

Kjersti welcomes people of all backgrounds, sexual orientations, and gender identities. She is committed to creating a compassionate, inclusive environment where each patient feels respected, supported, and genuinely seen.

Outside the clinic, Kjersti enjoys spending time in nature, learning, honoring the rhythms of the natural world, and being with loved ones—including her sweet and sassy calico kitty, Lily May.
